Praia da Luz, a half-mile-long sandy beach, is located directly
before Luz, approx 2 mls west of Lagos. The sheltered beach is well
suited for children and is enclosed by a large, dark rock massif on the
one side, and a small villa community on the other. Various water sports
activities, for example diving, also attract visitors.
Measuring roughly ¾ ml by ½ ml, this is a typical Portuguese fishing
village with steep, cobbled streets and a predominantly peaceful,
low-key atmosphere, although the main access road can get quite busy.

Lagos Algarve Portugal
Lagos was an important harbour at
the time of the Great Discoveries and it was from here that most of the
African expeditions put to sea. Surrounding the old centre of this
former capital of the Algarve (1576 to 1756) still stands an almost
complete city wall. Apart from being a seaside resort and a fishing
port, Lagos is also an important yachting centre organising
international regattas.
Lagos Algarve Portugal
Still a working town with a population
of around 18,000 , the most attractive part is undoubtedly the old town
with its narrow winding streets, churches and pedestrianised area, all
of which ooze charm.
