Cala'N Forcat Menorca Spain

7/05/2012

Cala’N Forcat is purpose-built but without real focus or sign of a design plan. The three-resort conurbation is clustered around deep rocky coastal inlets with little or no sand.

Character and charm are notable by their almost complete absence but the area is very lively and is popular with holiday makers on a lower budget looking for attractions that are scarsely found on the rest of the island.

Cala'N Forcat
Locality:
Cala’N Forcat can be found at the extreme W tip of the island, 2 mls W of Ciudadela, 30 mls W of Mahon and the airport. It faces S against a section of rocky coast and is an agglomeration of three developments including Cala’n Blanes and Los Delfines. There is a hilly relatively deserted coast to the N and busy tourist complexes to the S.
Despite the area lacking most of Menorca’s traditional attractions it is probably the liveliest resort on the island, but this is entirely comparative. It is good for younger families and couples on a mid to lower budget.

Accommodation consists mainly of apartments in the budget and middle range; a few large holiday hotels and villas in fake local style. Cala’n Blanes has a tiny but delightful beach of fine sand, backed by a grove of palms. Cala’n Forcat is a deep inlet with concrete platforms to swim from. More sand can be found at Calas Piques and Cala Brut.

Shopping is centred on Los Delfines, but also scattered throughout, although there is not much choice or variety though, mainly beach goods.
Entertainment and attractions consist of a diving centre, minigolf, children’s play park and beach activities.

Nightlife is centred on Los Delfines which has numerous lively bars, English theme pubs, karaoke and discos. ‘Eating out’ provides a choice of cheap snack bars, specialising in pizza, burgers and chips, English restaurants with traditional home food and a few fish restaurants arealso dotted around.
