Campanet Mallorca Spain

This small, attractive, traditional town, measuring roughly 1 ml by ½ ml, has fewer than 3,000 inhabitants and an unhurried, tranquil air.
Campanet
Narrow streets lined with charming, low-rise buildings of mellow local stone slope steeply down from the centre, with its imposing church and small, raised square filled with palm trees, benches, lampposts and cane chairs from the 2 bars.
The real attraction of the resort is the beauty of the surrounding countryside. This area suits those seeking a low-key, authentic Spanish experience that is a world away from the island’s livelier coastal resorts. It is mostly Germans and British, and almost exclusively couples. It is not for families or those wanting nightlife.

There is a 4-star country estate on the outskirts, but nothing in the town itself. Since the town doesn’t as yet feature in any of the major tour operators brochures, and public transport from the Son Sant Joan airport just isn’t really a practical option, anyone considering a holiday here must make provision to either collect a hire car from the airport, or make the transfer into the town by one of the many taxis that will be waiting outside the arrivals hall.

Locality:
Campanet is in north Mallorca/Majorca, (it is 25 mls NE of Palma and its international airport). It is in the SE-facing foothills of the Tramuntana mountain range, surrounded by hilly countryside filled with olive and almond groves.
There is an assortment of everyday shops, but nothing specifically for tourists. There is also a small Tuesday market. A visit to the glass-blowing factory and showroom is a amongst the few attractions outside the peaceful village.
During the daytime visit the local caves (Coves de Campanet). Spend some time walking and exploring the beautiful countryside.

The nightlife here is limited to a few low-key local bars. Those keen on livelier pursuits and cultural activities will have to journey to Palma and other coastal resorts. For food there is a couple of cafe/bars. There is a restaurant at the 4-star hotel on the village’s outskirts. For a local speciality, try the cheesecake. Ostrich is one of the region’s more exotic offerings (there are ostrich farms on the island).
