Cala D’Es Canutells is located on the S coast of
Menorca, 4½ mls from the airport and 6 mls from Mahon. The village is
set on a SW-facing coastal plateau descending quite steeply to a long,
narrow inlet of the sea.
Like so many of Spain’s pre tourist boom villages, Cala D’Es Canutells
was formerley a tiny fishing village settlement now greatly expanded in
the form of a slick, modern resort above a pretty cove with small
fishing boats at anchor.
The village is best suited to those looking for a relaxing break and
is generally preferred by mature couples. Accommodation is smartly
designed, including the dominating aparthotel Mar de Menorca.
Many lovely villas with abundant gardens are also a feature. Shoppers
are not well catered for here with very limited options. Those seeking
nightlife will also be disappointed as there really isn’t anything other
than a disco in the hotel.
