Not too long ago Armaçao de Pera
was just a fishing village with quaint houses and narrow streets.
Armaçao de Pera is now developing as a full blown holiday resort but has
still managed to retain some of its traditional character.
The sandy beach at Armaçao de Pera is one of the largest on
the Algarve and is set among huge cliff and rock formations. A stroll
along the promenade will bring you to what remains of the original
fishing village.
Locality:
Armaçao de Pera is situated midway along the S coast of Portugal on low-lying cliffs, 11 mls W of Albufeira, 13 mls E of Portimao, 29 mls W of Faro and the airport.
Armaçao de Pera is popular among most ages ranges and interests, families, couples and singles. Special interest groups are less catered for such as golfers and sport enthusiasts, although golf courses are available further ‘a field’. There is a long wide sandy beach here (Armaçao de Pera Beach) backed by cliffs and pebbly at water level.
In terms of attractions and entertainment, there is the old part of town
which has one or two historic buildings, the beach and a water park (3
miles west). By night there are plenty of discos and bars. Hotels Viking
and Garbe generally have some form of entertainment open to the public.
